Stephen Fry: The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive

We all know Stephen Fry. But how much do you know about his private life? In this film he presents the life of people suffering from bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive disorder. After being diagnosed with bipolar disorder he begins investigating what this condition does to people suffering from it. During the two-hour documentary he talks to a few famous people who struggle with BD, like Richard Dreyfuss and Rick Stein.

Bipolar disorder is a disorder that can not be cured completely, but it is being controlled successfully with medication and psychotherapy. Some of the cases he presents are very interesting, but this doesn’t mean that everyone suffering from it have the same severe symptoms.

If you are struggling with bipolar disorder you will understand the mania symptoms better, but  despite of the heavy information about the maniac part of the disorder, it also approaches the depression turmoil.

We admire Stephen for having the courage  to come out of the box and demonstrating that a mental disorder is nothing to be ashamed of.
